Mountainside Hospital Sports Medicine Fellowship
Mountainside Hospital’s Department of Family Medicine now offers a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. This Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship takes place within Mountainside’s New Jersey Sports Medicine Institute -- a brand new state-of-the-art sports medicine office in northern New Jersey that encompasses a multi-disciplinary approach to acute and chronic sports medicine injuries.
This one-year fellowship program is designed to provide clinical and academic experience to begin a career in sports medicine, including: clinical experience, didactic lectures, faculty development workshops and development of research skills.
The majority of clinical experience will occur at the New Jersey Sports Medicine Institute. Rotations occurring within this office include: primary care sports medicine, rehabilitation, orthopedic sports medicine, and foot and ankle podiatry. Other rotation experiences include upper extremity surgery, spine surgery, radiology, physical therapy, and human performance. Weekly didactic lectures and journal club are lead by faculty members, residents and fellows, as well as invited guests. Fellows spend one session, per week, doing primary care at Mountainside Family Practice Associates.
Weekly training room and game coverage occur at Glen Ridge High School in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and with New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New Jersey. We also have a relationship with the New Jersey Pride, a professional outdoor lacrosse team to provide training room and game coverage.
